Following the same 14-day treatment schedule as Prilosec, people who experience heartburn two days or more a week can get relief from the burning sensation that comes with acid reflux.Repeated occurrences of heartburn ? excess stomach acid that travels up the esophagus create that burning sensation ? can damage the esophageal lining, leading to erosion and ulceration of the esophageal lining and causing permanent changes to the cells. Known as Barrett’s esophagus, this condition in rare cases can lead to cancer.


For adults 18 years of age and older: This product is to be used once a day (every 24 hours), every day for 14 days. It might take 1 to 4 days for full effect; some people get complete relief of symptoms within 24 hours. For children younger than 18 years of age: Ask a doctor. Heartburn in children might sometimes be caused by a serious condition.

Omeprazole is in a group of drugs called proton pump inhibitors. Omeprazole decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Omeprazole is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions caused by excess stomach acid. Omeprazole is also used to promote healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to your esophagus caused by stomach acid). Omeprazole may also be given together with antibiotics to treat gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Omeprazole is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms.This medication works on a 14-day treatment schedule. Consult label for directions. You may repeat a 14-day course of treatment once every 4 months. DO NOT take for more than 14 days or more often than every 4 months unless directed by a doctor.Treats frequent heartburn (when incidence is 2 or more days a week)Consult your doctor for directions for children younger than 18 years of age. Heartburn in children may sometimes be caused by a serious condition.This drug may take 1 to 4 days for full effect; it is not intended for immediate relief of heartburn, though some people may experience relief in 24 hours.

Active ingredient (in each tablet): Omeprazole 20 mg, Acid reducer. Inactive ingredients: carnauba wax, ferric oxide red, ferric oxide yellow, hypromellose, hypromellose acetate succinate, lactose monohydrate, monoethanolamine, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium starch glycolate, sodium stearate, sodium stearyl fumarate, talc, titanium dioxide, triethyl citrate.

  • had heartburn longer than 3 months. This may be a sign of a more serious condition.
  • heartburn with lightheadedness, sweating or dizziness
  • chest pain or shoulder pain with shortness of breath; sweating; pain spreading to arms, neck or shoulders; or lightheadedness
  • frequent chest pain
  • frequent wheezing, particularly with heartburn
  • unexplained weight loss
  • nausea, vomiting or stomach pain
